How is the strength of the bags determined?

The strength of the bag will depend on the material used as well as the thickness and the quality of any welded seam. The strength is no better than the weakest point in the same way as the strength of a chain is determined by the weakest link. Variation in material thickness is therefore a critical measure. Variation in thickness of our bags are typically within 6%.

It is also important to know how well the bags last and that they are "fit for purpose". Several of our bags that are made for specific applications (e.g. garden waste sacks) are certified "fit for purpose" and carry a VGS label.

In order to ensure that our bags are suitable for their applications, we have conducted "leak tests" as well as "durability tests" according to recognized standards. All the tests are done by an independent laboratory.
